In 1976, a small group of dedicated people planning Twinsburg’s participation in the bicentennial celebration that year decided to set aside one day for twins. The Twins Day Festival started with a flag raising and dedication of the Wilcox Monument on the square and the dedication of the first picnic shelter at Glenn Chamberlin Park. The following year, determined not to let the idea die, a committee went into action, and made the second Twins Day happen.

Largest Annual Gathering of Twins in the Worldacording to the Guinness Book of World Records.

LOGO REDESIGN

FIGURE GROUND REVERSAL
The New Logo hinges on the core values that are written on the TWINSDAY website. Essentially these three things are, the uniqueness of twins, and the sharing of information behind the science of twins. The new logo utilizes figure ground reversal to both communicate the idea of two people who share the same DNA. So in the logo mark, the profiles of the two faces creates a graphically interpreted strand of DNA in an effort to communicate both.

SKETCHES

COLOR

COLOR SELECTIONThe color selection was intentional, and was based on the two
most famous twins in Pop culture. The twin sisters from the movie
The Shining. These colors also work well in the summer time which is when the festival takes place.

TOUCHPOINTS

MINI BROCHUREThe Twinburg Twins Day Festival has three core values, one of which is to educate people about the science of twins. This mini brochure acts as both a way of promoting the festival as well as providing some fun facts about twins to educate readers. It is 3.25 x 5 inches and cut so that the side flaps resemble the logo mark. There are lines inside the brochure to communicate the figure ground reversal which echos the logo as well. The focus for this touchpoint was to highlight the education core value and display and echo the logo’s figure ground reversal.

TOUCHPOINT II

INFO DECKOn the festival’s website they provide a nine page pdf attempting to explain what the upcoming Twins Day festival is all about. Each page is jammed with too much info and the deliverable is poorly thought out. A way to fix this existing online info packet is to create a physical preview booklet that they send out. It will have less information then the existing pdf but its purpose is to promote and create interest while more information can be found on the web site.
